Horsham Sparrows Football Club – Horsham’s only FA Community Charter Standard club offering both boys and girls football from the age of 6 upwards
Horsham Community Responders – Horsham’s volunteers trained to attend 999 calls in advance of the emergency services
Tanbridge House School – Horsham’s Ofsted outstanding rated school
12 boys and girls from Sparrows teams took part in the first Heart Start course arranged by the local Ambulance Service Community Responders scheme and hosted at Tanbridge House School. The course has been developed and released by the British Heart Foundation to provide training in Emergency Life Support covering the recovery position, CPR, choking and how to deal with bleeding as well as what to do when presented with an emergency (checking for danger, calling for help and dialling 999).
Everyone who attended the course had a great time and left after 2 hours with a certificate and most importantly knowledge that could help in an emergency to save a life.
Marc Harrold (Team Leader of the Responders) said that this was the first of many courses they would like to run delivering these skills and was impressed how the attendees participated and understood the new skills they were being shown.
Chris Cooper (Horsham Sparrows Club Secretary, who also attended the course) said that the club was committed to continued participation in this valuable course and it is available to all members who were interested in attending.
Both Sparrows & Responders thanked Tanbridge House School for their support in putting on the course which now meant that there were 12 more people in the district who had skills that may make a difference.
All participants gave their time for free and the course was free to attend.
