Following the recent success of the first Heart Start course that was run jointly by Horsham Sparrows FC, Horsham Responders and Tanbridge House School, we are looking to organise more courses in the near future. Saturday 9th February saw these three organisations with community at their heart work together to train some young people in valuable life saving skills.
12 boys and girls from Sparrows teams took part in the first Heart Start course arranged by the local Ambulance Service Community Responders scheme and hosted at Tanbridge House School. The course has been developed and released by the British Heart Foundation to provide training in Emergency Life Support covering the recovery position, CPR, choking and how to deal with bleeding as well as what to do when presented with an emergency (checking for danger, calling for help and dialling 999).
Each course is free and lasts for about 2 and a half hours and everyone completing it will receive a certificate of their achievement. But most important of all, it give people the opportunity of learning one of the best life skills of all – how to help in an emergency and save a life.
Courses are open to players and coaches and we are looking for more people to join the waiting list. For more information contact Chris Cooper firstname.lastname@example.org or visit www.horshamresponders.org
