A round-up of the action and results from this weekend

Sparrows U16s Boys were involved in a double header against Lingfield Youth at Horsham Park on Saturday morning with Sparrows picking maximum points.

An important six points for the U16s as they strengthened their position at the top of the C league. Sparrows produced a brilliant defensive display as they won the first match with a narrow 1-0 victory before comfortably winning 4-0 in their second match.

Sparrows U15s Boys were away to Storrington on Saturday and the spoils were shared as the match finished 1-1. T

he sides entered the half-time break level before the home side took the lead, however Sparrows scored late on in injury time to rescue a point on the road.

The next Sparrows side in action were the U14s Boys who drew 2-2 with Chesworth Rovers.

Another point in the right direction for the blue and whites as the gap now stands at two points between themselves and the league leaders Roffey Robins.

Another side that had a double header were the U13s Boys who entertained Horsham Trinity as the Sparrows picked up four points out of a possible six.

The first match finished 0-0 before the Sparrows got into their stride and won 2-0 in their second match.

Onto the Sunday’s action with the Girls as Sparrows U16s were 2-1 victors against Henfield as they got back to winning ways following late heartbreak two weeks ago.

Sparrows U15s Girls narrowly lost 1-2 to Penvensey & Westham at Horsham Park but showed clear fight and desire throughout the match and did themselves proud against the team top of the league.

The Sparrows U14s team were recently crowned champions of the Sussex County Women and Girls Division 3 but fell short of the mark this week losing 1-5 to Hassocks Juniors.

 

A 1-4 victory for Sparrows U13s against bottom of the table East Grinstead Meads saw Sparrows pick up their third win of the season after a 0-3 lead at half time put the game out of reach for the home side.
